LIMA – Taylor Halliday and Stephanie Moran, dance teachers at Liberty Arts Magnet School, have been selected to serve on the state’s Dance Content Advisory Committee.

The committee is a part of the Ohio Department of Education and was formed to write and revise the dance standards that all dance teachers in the state must follow.

The teachers will take part in two test activities: Standards Setting, making informed recommendations to ODE on assessment scores; and Linkage Studies, reviewing knowledge and abilities in test competencies for dance educators.

The writing/revisioning of the dance standards is done every four years and the assessments are done every two years. The advisory committee will meet Jan. 28 and 29 in Columbus.

Halliday has been with the Lima City Schools for 14 years and is currently a dance educator at Liberty. A graduate of Hope College, she has field-tested state dance assessments for the Ohio Alliance for Arts Education.

Moran is a first-year dance teacher at Liberty and has been program director for many dance studios across Ohio. She is also co-director of the Liberty Arts Magnet Touring Company.
