SHAWNEE – Shawnee United Methodist Church saw the need for a local cancer women’s support group in the community and recently formed the Sisters of Hope, a monthly faith-based cancer support group for women that have been affected by any type of cancer.
The support group meetings are free and open to the public. During each meeting, women share an hour of fellowship, a featured speaker and extra time to talk and connect with other members. Lori Wright, Director of Missional Discipleship at Shawnee UMC, said this was a need they identified and had the support within their congregation to reach out to others in the community.
Meetings take place at Shawnee United Methodist Church, 2700 Zurmehly Rd., on the second Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. in the Solid Rock Cafe at the church.
This event is free and open to the public!
