LIMA – The Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities (ACBDD) Project SEARCH will be holding an open house from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the St. Rita’s Medical Center Auxiliary Conference Room, 718 W. Market St. The event is free and open to any individual, or family member interested in the Project SEARCH program.
Project SEARCH is a collaboration with ACBDD, St. Rita’s Medical Center, Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) and Vocational Rehabilitation Contract Services. The high school transition program is a unique, business led, one-year school-to-work program that takes place entirely at the workplace. Total workplace immersion facilitates a seamless combination of classroom instruction, career exploration, and hands-on training through work site rotations.
Project SEARCH provides students with:
- Internships for graduating seniors with disabilities
- Resume building and job skills
- Opportunities for competitive community employment.

The Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities provides services to more than 800 individuals with disabilities and their families in Allen County. It is the organization’s mission to partner with eligible individuals and their families to assure the availability of the services and supports needed to participate within their community as they choose. The driving forces behind these efforts are the agency’s volunteer board members, as well as staff, families, Marimor Industries, Marimor School, Help Me Grow, other affiliated agencies, advocates and the individuals served by the organization.
