LIMA – At its annual Membership and Member Appreciation meeting on Thursday, August 25, ArtSpace/Lima presented its Volunteer of the Year Award to Beverly Miller.
Beverly began to volunteer for ArtSpace well over twenty-five years ago, and she has been the face of Rally in the Square for most of that time. As the manager of token sales, she is one of the first contacts for Rally-goers and remains one of the most familiar of Rally workers. Also a long-term member of the ArtSpace Board of Trustees, Miller has held every office available on the Board, including three terms as president. She has served on every board committee, worked at every job. In all the ways that count, Bev is an ideal supporter.
Asked her thoughts about ArtSpace, Miller remarked that “ArtSpace has sometimes been a hidden gem in our community. I am so proud of the way we promote the arts through outstanding exhibits, a wide variety of art classes, a nifty gift shop and, of course, our special events which bring out a diversified crowd. Our exhibits have always been above and beyond for a community our size, but the past several years, I think we have really outdone ourselves. I have a son who lives in Chicago and have had a chance to visit various arts organizations there and we are right up there on a par with many of them.”
Bill Sullivan, Operations Manager at ArtSpace, said of the award: “When we decided to honor a volunteer of the year, one name rose to the top immediately. There was no second choice. If we could have made it Volunteer of the Half-Century, we would have.”
