LIMA – The Lima City Schools will hold a kicked-up version of city-wide kindergarten registration this year.
Jump Start to Kindergarten will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, at the Liberty Arts Magnet School, 338 W. Kibby St.
Children who will be age 5 by Aug. 1 can enroll in kindergarten this year. Registration is at Liberty regardless of which school a child will enroll in. Open enrollment is accepted.
This year’s event will feature hot dogs, free jump ropes, games and prizes, including several chances to win bikes, backpacks full of school supplies, restaurant gift certificates and more.
The day allows parents to register their children, get questions about kindergarten, campus wear and transportation answered, and learn about kindergarten readiness and various community organizations and services available to families.
Children can also get physicals and immunizations while registering. Those will be provided by staff from the Spartan Community Health Center. Parents should bring their photo ID, any medication currently taken by the child, and insurance card. If a child does not have insurance, there is a sliding fee scale for qualifying families. Please bring proof of income for all household members.
Children must have a physical before entering kindergarten.
Parents should also bring to registration their child’s Social Security card, immunization records, original copy of birth certificate, current physical, Medicaid or insurance card, proof of residency and custody papers (if applicable).
