Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) will attend a reception at 5 p.m. Friday honoring the winners of the Fourth District of Ohio’s 2016 Congressional Art Competition. The annual competition allows aspiring artists in high school to compete for the chance to feature a work of art in the U.S. Capitol.
The reception is being hosted by Lima Baptist Temple’s senior pastor Al Elmore and Temple Christian School’s superintendent Hunter Powell. The reception will be held at Temple Christian School, located at 982 Brower Road in Lima, Ohio. Participating students, family and teachers will attend the reception.
The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their young constituents. Since then, over 650,000 high school students have been involved with the nationwide competition.
