Andy Lynch and District 8 Fellowship of Christian Athletes hosted the first annual Legends Hometown Handoff on Tuesday. Former NFL player Kyle Miller and current offensive lineman for the Kansas City Chiefs, Jarrod Pughsley, graduates of Elida and Lima Senior, respectively, came up with the event that provides meals for families who can’t afford it over the Thanksgiving holiday. Miller and Pughsley funded the event, and through additional donations from community members, they were able to provide 1,000 meals. Lima Senior High School students and volunteers packed the meals in their cafeteria before sending over about half to Elida to be distributed, with the rest staying at Lima Senior. Lock Sixteen provided and cooked the meals – even adding in some of their pumpkin pie.
