LIMA – Former state rep. Matt Huffman won the 12th District Ohio Senate seat over John Adams with 67.4 percent of the vote with 67 percent of district precincts counted.

Huffman served as the 4th District Representative (Allen County) in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2006 through 2014, and served as Speaker Pro Tempore for his final term. He is a partner in the Lima law firm of Huffman, Kelley, Brock & Gottschalk.

Huffman fills the open seat that will be left by Senate President Keith Faber when his term expires at the end of 2016. Huffman was also co-chair for State Issue 1, which was overwhelmingly approved by voters Nov. 3.
