LIMA – Allen Lima Leadership will host the 2016 Leadership Ohio class, when the group visits Lima and Allen County Friday, Sept. 16 and Saturday,Sept. 17.

The mission of Leadership Ohio is to identify, educate, communicate, inspire and engage Ohio’s current and emerging leaders for the well being of the people of Ohio.

Each year, the organization forms a competitive business mix of diverse leaders from multiple disciplines in each of the 13 regions of Ohio and visits communities around the state. Through a series of eight 2-day sessions utilizing educational excursions, panel discussions, presentations, experiences and dialogue with fellow participants, the program explores the issues, challenges and opportunities facing Ohio.

On Friday, the day is focused on the transition from traditional to advanced manufacturing. You might see us out and about, traveling by Lima-Allen County RTA trolley headed to the JSMC, Bob Evans, or Apollo Career Center. On Saturday, the day is focused on community and public health, and will highlight the Activate Allen County “Healthy Happens Here” initiative.

“We will be highlighting local approaches to statewide concerns, such as how to transition a manufacturing workforce and how to respond to public health issues such as food desserts and substance abuse in the workplace,” ALL Executive Director Heather Rutz said. “We are thrilled to have Lima and Allen County in the spotlight and show off our community.”

Londell Smith, a graduate of Allen Lima Leadership and Leadership Ohio, and now a board member of Leadership Ohio, helped bring the group to Lima. It has been several years since the group visited the area.
